And it's over already!

This is the fortieth installment of West Wind, your daily drop of thoughts, ideas, and info for this Season.

Pope Leo XIV appears on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica

And just like that, we have a pope! Thursday’s post was scheduled a day before, but even if it hadn’t been, the election and decision happened right as it was supposed to be going out, so I wouldn’t have had time to change it. There’s plenty going on in the world but I’m not one of those who is constantly trying to be on the forefront of news and things.

Such good news that the conclave is over. It wasn’t the shortest, that distinction apparently belongs to the conclave of 1503 which lasted 10 hours. This one was less than 24, but still more than 10. Anyway, lots of people are excited about how the new pope is American, specifically from the US, since Pope Francis was also American in that he came from the Americas, just the southern one.

That’s really all I have for today; you can find lots of news coverage all over the place about this historic event.

It’s still Friday, though, and I’ll keep this trail drive going on as long as I can. Another week means another Florabeast (or other world-related lore drop) and this week is no different. Well, maybe a little different. I’m not going to tell you what it is, and the button below uses an obscured link. You have to show the initiative to find out. That helps with engagement! (I hear)

The last bit of news for today is that the wind is changing again, and this newsletter will be moving to three times a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting next week. That’s to help make room for some other projects, which will be announced soon. Have a good weekend, everyone!
