Spring is here!

This is the fourth installment of West Wind, your daily drop of thoughts, ideas, and info for this Season.

Speaking of the Season, it has officially changed! You’ve probably been seeing the change at work already, warmer days leading to plants waking up and getting back to business. Around here, daffodils, forsythia, and dogwood trees are all ready to go. We live in a very rural area, and I keep seeing daffodils out in the middle of cow fields or in random spots along the otherwise wooded roads. Maybe there was a house there at some point and the garden remains? Or maybe a squirrel dropped a fragment of a bulb and it just kept going? They must have all been from the same shipment because they’re all the same standard yellow color, despite being miles apart. It makes me want to seed bomb (bulb bomb?) some of the more exotic colors out there.

Why was the daffodil so self-centered? Because it’s a narcissus!

I really wanted to get some springtime pictures to go with this, but it’s been rainy, cloudy, and VERY windy lately. So, enjoy this picture of a callery pear on our property from last year. I don’t know what it’s doing now since we’ve been hunkered down for a few days. A big thunderstorm blew through last night so we’ll see if the power goes out at all today. But any way that it goes, it’s the beginning of a new Season, one that promises renewal and new beginnings.

Are you looking forward to any big changes this Spring?

Thanks for reading, more tomorrow.
